abstract The invention relates to a powder composition based on nitrocellulose. It contains a ballistic modifier which may comprise a copper II complex of a carboxylic acid with a C6 to C1 2 aliphatic chain, advantageously with one or more conventional ballistic modifiers, for example lead or copper compounds such as lead stearate , lead acetophthalate, lead beta-resorcylate and basic copper salicylate. The preferred complex is copper II caproate. The composition exhibits good plateau combustion or mesa combustion qualities over an attractive range of pressures and wide ranges of energy and combustion rates. Field of application: propellants, etc.
