titleOfInvention Ligand transition metal complexes and their use for optical information storage.
abstract The present invention relates to novel transition metal-ligand complexes, their use for information storage and a solid matrix associated with said complexes for information storage. The transition metal-ligand (s) complex, the metal of which is capable of exhibiting a thermo-induced spin transition, is characterized in that one or more ligands L comprise one or more photoisomerizable alpha-unsaturated chains (cis- isomerization trans), in that one or more anionic groups X are bonded or not to the metal ion and in that the spin state of the metal can be transformed into a low spin (BS) or high spin (HS) state under the effect of the modification of the ligand field induced by the isomerization of said isomerizable ligands under the action of light irradiation. Use of the complex associated with a matrix for information storage.
