A process for the production of a microspheroidal powder of low dispersity, according to which a hydrogel is prepared, an aqueous suspension of the ground hydrogel is subjected to atomization in a gas stream, and from the atomization, gel-containing particles are collected. moisture, the particles are contacted with an organic liquid to remove at least part of the moisture, and then the particles are subjected to drying. The process is applicable to the manufacture of silica powders intended to serve as a support for chromium oxide catalysts which may contain titanium oxide and which are suitable for the polymerization of ethylene. |
