The invention relates to a method for modifying the electrical conductivity properties of an organic polymer by irradiation using synchrotron radiation. According to this method, at least certain parts of a film (7) are irradiated with the white beam of radiation coming from a synchrotron (1). When the polymer is a conductor, for example polyoctylthiophene, it gradually becomes insulating. On the other hand, when the polymer is insulating as in the case of polyacrylonitrile, it gradually becomes a conductor. In both cases, the degree of modification can be controlled by adjusting the irradiation conditions, especially the duration. |
