titleOfInvention IMAGE INTENSIFIER TUBE WITH BRIGHTNESS CURVE COMPENSATION.
abstract The invention relates to image intensifier tubes, and more particularly to radiological image intensifiers. To obtain a more uniform distribution of brightness of the output image for a uniform input illumination, the invention proposes to interpose between the scintillator layer (12) and the photocathode (16) an interlayer (14) of radially variable thickness (in practice thicker at the center), made of a material which modifies the gloss according to its thickness. In practice, the intermediate layer can quite simply be the In2 O3 electrode deposited under the photocathode, the thickness of this layer being variable radially to obtain the desired brightness profile compensation.
