titleOfInvention METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COOLED ENGINE PISTON.
abstract A method of manufacturing a cooled piston head in which the upper (1) and lower (2) portions of the piston head are made separately; a metal plate (6) is disposed on the underside of the upper portion; then, the upper portion (1) including the metal plate (6) is connected to the lower portion (2) by friction welding. The metal plate is provided with a central orifice for the passage of cooling oil on the underside of the crown, and a means of communication with a closed cooling chamber (10), formed by a circumferential groove ( 4) on the upper head portion and the peripheral outer surface of the metal plate.
