abstract The present invention relates to novel sulfolene derivatives and more particularly 4,4-dimethyl 2,2-dioxo 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7-hexahydrobenzo [c] thiophene. These derivatives are prepared by contacting the sulfonated myrcene with a strong acid. The derivatives of the present invention are used as synthetic intermediates in the preparation of vitamin A.
