titleOfInvention AG2S MEMBRANE FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SILVER IONS OR HALOGENIDE IONS IN SOLUTION.
abstract The invention relates to a crystalline silver sulphide membrane for the determination of silver ions or halide ions in solution and a method of manufacture thereof. The membrane according to the invention comprises silver sulfide doped with an ion capable of forming either with Ag + or with S2 - a much more insoluble salt than the species in solution. Preferably, the membrane also contains an inert hydrophobic compound. The membrane is prepared by co-precipitating silver sulfide and dopant, followed by homogenization with the hydrophobic compound and pressing. The membrane can be used in an electrode to measure silver or halide ions in solution.
