The present invention relates to a process for preparing dinitrotoluenes by reacting toluene and nitric acid in the liquid phase. The process is characterized in that the reaction is carried out in the presence of a diluent chosen from perfluorinated (poly) cycloalkanes comprising from 5 to 12 carbon atoms and perfluorotoluene and in the presence of a metal sulfate. |
