abstract The invention relates to a method of bonding a silicone elastomer to a substrate, in particular a non-porous substrate such as a metal, glass or a plastic material. The process consists in treating the surface of the substrate with a cleaning agent which is a liquid polydiorganosiloxane whose substituents attached to silicon are monovalent hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon groups having up to 18 carbon atoms, for example a polydimethylsiloxane, then to be applied to the treated surface a silicone elastomer-forming composition vulcanizable at room temperature. Application to the bonding of sealants in the construction industry.
