This glass contains, in weight percentages of oxides: 0 - 7.5 SiO2 + GeO2 25 - 33 B2 O3 19 - 50 PbO 0 - 2 HfO2 1 - 6 ZrO2 1 - 6 ZrO2 + HfO2 4 - 20 Ta2 O5 0 - 8 , 0 Al2 O3 0 - 4 TiO2 0 - 1 WO3 0 - 7 Nb2 O5 0 - 2 GeO2 0 - 4.5 Li2 O 0 - 4.5 Na2 O 0 - 4.5 K2 O 0 - 4.5 total oxides alkalis 0 - 10 MgO 0 - 16 CaO 0 - 16 BaO 0 - 16 SrO 0 - 16 BaO + SrO 0 - 16 ZnO 0 - 20 total alkaline earth oxides + ZnO 0 - 2 O3 0 - 5.5 Y2 O3 0 - 5.5 Gd2 O3 0 - 11 total La2 O3 + Y2 O3 + Gd2 O3 with the condition that the ratio (SiO2 + GeO2 + B2 O3) / (Ta2 O5 + ZrO2 + HfO2) is less than or equal to 5 and that the PbO / (SiO2 + GeO2 + B2 O3) ratio is less than 2, as well as optionally the usual refining adjuvants.
