abstract The invention relates to a process for the production of L-glutamic acid by fermentation. According to the invention, a microorganism belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or the genus Corynebacterium, resistant to prumycin and its derivatives and capable of producing L-glutamic acid, is grown; and recovering the L-glutamic acid formed and accumulated in the culture liquor.
