The invention relates to a process for preparing magnesium fluoride and the resulting magnesium fluoride. According to the invention, magnesium sulfate is reacted with a carbonating agent to obtain magnesium hydroxycarbonate. The latter is then reacted under pressure with a carbonating agent, whereby magnesite is obtained which is finally subjected to fluorination to obtain magnesium fluoride. |
