abstract | A method of surface treatment of phosphor particles, in dry powder, for use in the manufacture of a cathode ray tube display screen, for adjusting the triboelectric charge characteristics of said phosphor particles, characterized by the steps of providing the phosphor particles of a first silica coating, dissolving a coupling agent selected from the group consisting of silanes and titanates, in a suitable solvent to form a mixture, subjecting the phosphor particles coated with silica to a treatment of surface with said mixture to produce a second coating of said coupling agent on those particles, filter surface treated phosphor particles, rinse surface treated particles filtered in said solvent and dry said surface treated phosphor particles. The invention also relates to a cathode ray tube comprising a screen 22 provided with particles of phosphors treated according to this process. |
