abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of dinitrotoluene by reaction of mononitrotoluene and nitric acid in the liquid phase. The process is characterized in that the reaction is carried out in the presence of an inorganic and acidic solid comprising at least one component chosen from the group consisting of orthophosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, metaphosphoric acid, metallic dihydrogen phosphates, metallic hydrogen phosphates, metallic orthophosphates and metallic pyrophosphates derived from metals capable of forming cations carrying from 1 to 5 positive charges. |
