abstract Method for controlling the rear wheels of a motor vehicle with four steered wheels. The rear wheels of a four-wheel steer motor vehicle 100 are controlled such that a steering angle ratio between a rear wheel steering angle deltar and a front wheel steering angle deltaf is variably controlled by function of lateral acceleration [yo]. The steering angle ratio [g (yo)] is chosen so as to be within the range defined by: fl (yo) -g (yo) .f2 (yo)> = 0 with fl (yo) = Cfo / mf; f2 (yo) = Cro / mr; where Cfo, Cro are equivalent powers of turn of the tires of the front and rear wheels, while the automatic vehicle performs a turn under constant conditions; and mf, mr are masses equivalent to the front and rear axles of the motor vehicle.
