abstract The invention relates to the control of air cooling devices. A control system for regulating the electric power which is applied to the refrigeration means 6, 26, 28 or to the defrosting means 13 of an appliance such as a domestic refrigerator, uses at least one piezoceramic relay 12. The power electrical is applied to the relay in dependence on control signals and the control circuit 19 is directly and ohmically connected to the power source. In one embodiment, a single piezoceramic relay switches the input electrical power between the refrigeration means and the defrost means. Application to refrigerators.
