abstract | The invention relates to a nucleic acid fragment containing a functional sequence of nucleotides contained in a 2.55 kb SaI-SphI fragment, derived from the chromosome of a natural strain of B. subtilis, or of a strain of B. subtilis. exhibiting a mutation, in particular the sacU ** h mutation, said sequence being characterized in that it is capable, when introduced into a B. subtilis - or into another microorganism, capable of exploiting for its own benefit the information given to this fragment - to induce an overproduction of proteins or to give it a Sed ** h phenotype. The invention also relates to a method of stimulating the production of a polypeptide determined by a suitable microorganism by introducing the above DNA fragment into the cells of the microorganism whose genome or chromosome has been modified so as to that it contains a DNA sequence encoding said determined polypeptide. |
