titleOfInvention XENON LAMP MORE PARTICULARLY FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS
abstract A xenon lamp is described which is more particularly suitable for automobile headlights. The advantages of such a use, compared to incandescent lamps, mainly relate to the dimensions, shape, quality and concentration of the light obtained and the possibility of selectively moving the position of the light produced relative to the reflector 12. The lamp produces high intensity light in front of one of the electrodes 34, 36 and this is not spread as occurs in other discharge devices. The lamp also makes it possible to produce light by excitation by a direct current source so as to be at a first location relative to the reflector to give the code lights, then to be moved to a second location to give the high beams. The dimensions and shape of the light produced by xenon are smaller and more symmetrical, respectively, compared to the light developed by an incandescent source or other discharge devices. Application to automobile headlights.
