abstract A liquid metal fast neutron nuclear reactor 23 having a reload cycle of between 10 and 30 years is achieved by operating the reactor 23 with a low linear power density, typically at 0.08 kW / cm from the bars. fuel 77, instead of the 0.25 or 0.5 kW / cm of the existing technique. By minimizing the area, neutron leakage is reduced by reducing linear power density, increasing core volume, reducing fissile material enrichment, and optimizing the geometry of the core. core, and the re-regeneration of fissile fuel internal to the core is substantially improved, which makes it possible to increase the reloading cycle to 30 years.
