abstract | THE PRESENT INVENTION CONCERNS A PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING A NICKEL HYDROXIDE ELECTRODE OF THE FRITTED TYPE. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PRESENT INVENTION IS TO PERFORM A PROCESS IN WHICH THE SINTERED NICKEL PLATE IS FILLED WITH AN ACTIVE MATERIAL BY IMPREGNATION, WITHOUT CORROSION OF THE SAID PLATE BY THE IMPREGNATION SOLUTION, AND MAINTAINING CONDUCTIVITY BETWEEN THE ACTIVE MATERIAL AND THE SRIED PLATE. THIS OBJECTIVE IS ACHIEVED BY A MANUFACTURING PROCESS INCLUDING: A FIRST STEP FOR THE FORMATION OF COBALT HYDROXIDE ON THE SURFACES OF THE POROUS NICKEL SINTER PLATE, A SECOND STEP OF HOT TREATMENT OF THE COBALT HYDROXIDE 'COBALT HYDROXIDE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ALKALINE AND OXYGEN SOLUTION, AND A THIRD STEP OF PERFORMING A FILLING OPERATION WITH ACTIVE MATERIAL TO IMPREGNATE THE SRIED PLATE HOT TREATED WITH AN ACIDIC NICKEL SALT. THE ELECTRODE SO MANUFACTURED IS MORE PARTICULARLY INTENDED TO BE USED IN AN ALKALINE ACCUMULATOR. |
