abstract | THE PRESENT INVENTION CONCERNS AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE PREPARATION OF ETHYLENE POLYTEREPHTHALATE AND OF COPOLYESTERS CONSTITUTING A MAJORITY OF ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE PATTERNS. THIS IMPROVED PROCESS IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE FOLLOWING SUCCESSION OF PHASES: REACTION OF A DICARBOXYLIC ACID, ESSENTIALLY TEREPHTHALIC ACID, OR ONE OF ITS LOWER ALKYL ESTERS WITH ESSENTIALLY AN ALIPHATIC DIOL, IN THE PRESENCE OF A COMPOUND MAGNESIUM ANDOR OF A COMPOUND OF CALCIUM, SOLUBLE AT LEAST PARTIALLY IN DIOL; -DISTILLATION OF EXCESS OF ALIPHATIC DIOL AFTER ADDITION OF A PHOSPHORUS COMPOUND CAPABLE OF INHIBITED THE CATALYTIC EFFECT OF THE MAGNESIUM COMPOUND AND OR OF THE CALCIUM COMPOUND; -POLYCONDENSATION OF THE DIOL DICARBOXYLATE OBTAINED PREVIOUSLY, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ALKALINE METAL GERMANATE. THE POLYESTER OBTAINED BY THE PROCESS OF THE INVENTION HAS A CONDUCTIVITY GREATER THAN THAT OBTAINED WITH OTHER PRIOR PROCESSES AS WELL AS A REDUCED OR REMOVED PRESENCE OF INSOLUBLE CATALYTIC RESIDUES, WHICH MAKES IT PARTICULARLY WELL SUITABLE FOR THE PREPARATION. , ESPECIALLY FOR APPLICATIONS IN THE FIELDS OF MAGNETIC TAPES. |
