THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR PREPARING FIBROUS ACTIVE CARBONS. SUCH CARBON IS OBTAINED BY CARBONIZATION AND ACTIVATION OF CELLULOSIC FIBERS AT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 200C AND 1000C IN AN INERT ATMOSPHERE. BEFORE THE ACTIVATION, THE FIBER IS IMPREGNATED WITH AN IMPREGNATION MATERIAL INCLUDING, IN THE FORM OF ONE OR MORE COMPOUNDS, BORON AND AT LEAST ONE ALKALINE METAL. APPLICATION: CATALYST SUPPORTS, POROUS ELECTRODES CONSTITUENTS OR LARGE MOLECULES ADSORBANTS. |
