THE INVENTION CONCERNS A PROCESS FOR THE HYDROPHILIC COATING OF PLASTICS. THE PROCESS CONSISTS OF FORMING A HYDROPHILIC COATING OF A LUBRICATING AND VISION-PROMOTING MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDE FILM, WHICH IS IMMOBILIZED ON THE SURFACE OF THE PLASTIC MATERIAL FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE LATTER. AN ADVANTAGEOUS PROCESS CONSISTS OF FIRST COVERING THE PLASTIC MATERIAL WITH A MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDE (FILM III), DRYING BY APPLYING A WATER-MISCIBLE SOLVENT THEN IN CROSS-LINING AND PERMANENTLY IMMOBILIZING THE FIRST PLASTIC COATING ON THE MATERIAL PS BY THE APPLICATION OF AN ORGANO-SOLUBLE CATALYZED ALIPHATIC POLYISOCYANATE SOLUTION (FILM IV).
