THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR FORMING A REFRACTORY COMPOSITION LAMINATED ON A SURFACE. THE PROCESS CONSISTS OF APPLYING ALTERNATIVELY TO THE SURFACE A COMPOSITION BASED ON BASIC COLLOIDAL SILICA SOL AND A COMPOSITION BASED ON ACIDIC HYBRID BINDER, SO THAT EACH LAYER OF ONE OF THE COMPOSITIONS IS IN CONTACT WITH A LAYER. 'OTHER COMPOSITION, AND DRY EACH COAT APPLIED UNTIL IT REACHES SUFFICIENT HARDNESS SO THAT THE APPLIED COATS DO NOT LIFT FROM THE SURFACE WHEN APPLYING A NEXT COAT.
