THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR PREPARING 4-ALCOXYANILINES. THE PROCESS CONSISTS OF HYDROGENING, BY CATALYTIC ROUTE, A NITROBENZENE IN THE PRESENCE OF A NOBLE METAL-BASED CATALYST IN A MIXED SOLVENT CONTAINING A LOWER ALIPHATIC ALCOHOL, SULFURIC ACID AND WATER OR A CARBOXYLIC ACID, LOWER OR BOTH, TO INDUCE HYDROGENATION AND A BAMBERGER-TYPE TRANSPOSITION REACTION. THE COMPOUNDS OBTAINED ARE USEFUL INTERMEDIARIES IN THE DYES AND MEDICINAL PRODUCTS INDUSTRY. |
