ON RETURN, AFTER CROSSING THE PARTIAL REFLECTIVE BLADE L, THE OBSERVATION BEAM PASSES THROUGH ANOTHER REFRACTION COMPENSATOR B, FOLLOWED BY DETECTOR DEVICE E, AND AN ELECTRONIC TREATMENT CIRCUIT F. A LARGE SYMMETRY OF BEAM TREATMENT IS MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE OUTBOUND AND THE RETURN JOURNEY. THE OPTICAL OF THE SUBASSEMBLY D IS ESSENTIALLY CONSTITUTED OF A SPHERICAL MIRROR M. THE M AND M SCAN MIRRORS ROTATE AROUND RESPECTIVE COLINEAR ROTATION AXES TO THE FOCALS OF ASTIGMATISM THAT THE SPHERICAL MIRROR WOULD PRODUCE IN THE IMAGE A PUNCTUAL PATIENT PUPIL.
