abstract THE INVENTION CONCERNS A PROCESS FOR SYNTHESIS OF N-BENZYLOXYCARBONYL-L-ASPARTIC ACID AND OF AN ALKALINE METAL SALT THEREOF AS WELL AS N-BENZYLOXYCARBONYL-L-ASPARTIC ACID OBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS. ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, THE PROCESS IS CHARACTERIZED IN INCLUDING THE ADDITION OF BENZYL CHLOROFORMATE AND A SOLUTION OF METAL ALKALINE HYDROXIDE TO AN AQUEOUS ALKALINE MIXTURE CONTAINING L-ASPARTIC ACID WHILE MAINTAINING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE REACTIONAL MIXTURE BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 35 AND 55C AND ON COMPLETE PERFORMANCE OF THE REACTION ACIDIFICATION OF THE REACTIONAL MIXTURE. THE INVENTION ALLOWS TO DECREASE THE DURATION OF THE REACTION, TO IMPROVE THE YIELD AND THE PURITY OF THE N-BENZYLOXY CARBONYL-L-ASPARTIC ACID OBTAINED.
