THE STRUCTURE OF THIS ETOFFE INCLUDES A LOCAL ETOFFE AND A REVERSE ETOFFE, AT LEAST ONE SHAPED, AT LEAST IN PART, OF THREADS OBTAINED FROM SYNTHETIC FIBERS IN WHICH AN ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT HAS BEEN INCORPORATED. A BINDING WIRE CAN JOIN THE TWO FABRICS AND BRING THEM IN CONTACT. THE ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT MIGRATES TREATED FIBERS FROM ONE OF THE FABRICS TO THE SURFACE OF THAT FABRIC AND TO THE YARNS OF THE OTHER FABRIC. ANTIMICROBIAL PROTECTION IS THUS CONFERRED TO THE TWO STOFFS, WHILE RETAINING THE ADVANTAGEOUS PARTICULARITIES OF THE UNTREATED NATURAL FIBERS OF ONE OF THE STOFFS.
