PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A HYDROLYSABLE POLYESTER RESIN BY REACTION OF A POLYCARBOXYLIC ACID AND A POLYALCOOL AND USE OF THIS RESIN IN ANTI-SOIL VARNISHES AND PAINTS. IN THE PREPARATION OF THE POLYESTER RESIN, AT LEAST AS A POLYALCOOL COMPONENT IS USED A METAL SALT OF HYDROCARBOXYLIC ACID OF FORMULA: (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) IN WHICH R REPRESENTS A HYDROCARBON REMAINDER, M IS A MONON METAL TETRAVALENT OF GROUPS IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IVB, VIIA AND VIII OF THE PERIODIC CLASSIFICATION AND O IS A NUMBER CORRESPONDING TO THE VALENCE OF METAL M, AND THE POLYCONDENSATION IS CARRIED OUT AT A TEMPERATURE NOT EXCEEDING THE DECOMPOSITION TEMPERATURE OF HYDROXYCARBOXYLIC ACID METAL SALT. THIS TYPE OF RESIN IS USED WITH ADVANTAGE AS A BINDER FOR ANTI-FOULING MARINE PAINTS. |
