THESE MEANS OF SAFETY INCLUDE, IN COMBINATION, MECHANICAL MEANS OF EXTENSION AND A LIQUID OR GASEOUS ADDITIVE, COMPATIBLE WITH THE CONSTITUENTS OF THE BATTERY AND WHOSE PRESSURE INCREASES RAPIDLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE BATTERY INCREASES. THE INVENTION PREVENTS THE EXPLOSION OF THE BATTERY UNDER ACCIDENTAL CONDITIONS OF INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL SHORT CIRCUIT AND INCINERATION.
