abstract ORGANO-SOLUBLE COMPLEXES BETWEEN SULPHONIC ACID AND IRON ARE PREPARED BY CONTACTING SULPHONIC ACID AND FERRIC HYDROXIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF A SOLVENT SYSTEM WHICH INCLUDES: A. AN AROMATIC HYDROCARBIDE OR AN ALIPHAILLANT BULKHEAD HYDROCARBIDE At 80-230C; AND B. A LIQUID ORGANIC COMPOUND WITH OXYGENIC FUNCTIONS PRESENTING AT LEAST PARTIAL MISCIBILITY TO WATER AND SUBSTANTIAL MISCIBILITY TO HYDROCARBONS. AN ALIPHATIC SULPHONIC ACID RESULTING FOR EXAMPLE FROM THE SULFONATION OF A LONG-CHAIN OLEFIN OR OF A POLYMER OR COPOLYMER OF OLEFINE OR OF CONJUGATED DIOLEFIN IS USED, CONTAINING FROM 0.2 TO 1.2 DOUBLE BONDING PER MOLECULE AND PRESENTING A DOUBLE BOND BY MOLECULE. AVERAGE MOLECULAR FROM 250 TO 3000. AFTER SEPARATION OF AN AQUEOUS PHASE AND AN ORGANIC PHASE, COMPLEXES WITH A HIGH IRON CONTENT ARE OBTAINED IN SOLUTION, (THE RATIO OF THE NUMBER OF ATOMS-GRAM OF IRON TO THE NUMBER OF EQUIVALENTS -ACID RANGE MAY BE FROM 6: 1 TO 12: 1 OR MORE). THESE COMPLEXES ARE ADVANTAGEALLY USED AS ADDITIVES TO IMPROVE THE COMBUSTION OF LIQUID FUELS.
