abstract INVENTION RELATING TO THE PRODUCTION OF ARSENIEUX ANHYDRIDE. ARSENIC IS EXTRACTED FROM A SUBSTANCE CONTAINING ARSENIC SULPHIDE BY MEANS OF AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION CONTAINING COPPER SULPHATE. THE REACTION MIXTURE IS AERED DURING EXTRACTION IN THE PRESENCE OF COPPER IONS. THE EXTRACT IS COOLED TO RECOVER SOLIDS CONTAINING ARSENIOUS ANHYDRIDE AND THE SOLIDS ARE RE-SUSPENSION AND AERED IN THE PRESENCE OF COPPER IONS. SO MOST OF THE ARSENIOUS ACID IS OXIDIZED TO ARSENIC ACID. THE EXTRACTION RESIDUE IS SEPARATED BY FILTRATION AND THE RESULTING FILTRATE IS REDUCED TO CRYSTALLIZE AND RECOVER ARSENIEUX ANHYDRIDE. APPLICATION TO THE LOW COST PRODUCTION OF HIGH PURITY ARSENIOUS ANHYDRIDE.
