THE INVENTION CONCERNS THE PHOTOLYTIC PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN FROM WATER. THE PHOTODISSOCIATION OF WATER GIVING GASEOUS HYDROGEN IS PROMOTED BY CATALYTIC DISPERSION OF FINE METAL PARTICLES. THIS DISPERSION IS STABILIZED BY ALKYLENE GLYCOL POLYMERS WHICH HAVE THE CAPACITY OF ABSORBING METAL PARTICLES AND WHICH PLAY THE ROLE OF PROTECTIVE AGENTS IN SOLUTION.
