abstract THE INVENTION RELATES TO A NEUTRON ACCELERATOR TUBE HAVING A VERY ADVANCED IONIZATION SECTION. THE TUBE INCLUDES A TARGET SECTION 19, A FILLING SECTION 16 PRODUCING AN ACCELERATOR GAS AND AN IONIZATION SECTION 18. THIS LAST INCLUDES AN IONIZATION CHAMBER, A FIRST AND A SECOND CATHODE 18B, 18C TURNED TO ONE TOWARDS THE TUBE. OTHERWISE AND TOWARDS THE INTERIOR OF THE CHAMBER, THE ACTIVE SURFACE OF AT LEAST ONE OF THE CATHODES CONSISTING OF A MATERIAL EMITTING BETA RAYS, AND AN ANODE 18A, PLACED BETWEEN THE CATHODES SO AS THE ELECTRONS PRODUCED BY THE ELECTRIC FIELD ARE TRANSMITTED BETWEEN THE OPPOSITE ACTIVE SURFACES OF THE CATHODES AND PRODUCE, BY SHOCK, SECONDARY ELECTRONS. THE ACCELERATOR TUBE IS IN PARTICULAR INTENDED FOR USE IN AN OIL WELL DIAGRAPHY INSTRUMENT.
