COATED POLYCARBONATE ARTICLE WITH IMPROVED RESISTANCE TO ABRASION AND SOLVENTS AND IMPROVED ADHESION OF THE COATING TO POLYCARBONATE. THIS ITEM CONSISTS OF A POLYCARBONATE BACKING ON AT LEAST ONE SIDE OF A PRIMER COAT PROMOTING ADHESION AND CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 85 BY WEIGHT OF A THERMODURCED ACRYLIC POLYMER AND ABOUT 15 TO 75 IN WEIGHT AT LEAST ONE ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT ABSORBING COMPOUND, ANDB AN EXTERIOR COAT APPLIED TO THE PRIMER COAT CONSISTING OF A THERMODURCED ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE CONTAINING COLLOIDAL SILICA AS A LOADING MATERIAL. THE ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT ABSORBING COMPOUND CONTAINED IN THE PRIMER COAT MAKES THE ADHESION OF THE ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE LAYER PRESERVED DESPITE PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO CLIMATE INFLUENCES. |
