titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF UNFUSED BUT DENSE HARZBURGITE, INTENDED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF REFRACTORY PRODUCTS AND THE HARZBURGITE OBTAINED BY APPLICATION OF THIS PROCESS
abstract The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of unmelted but dense harzburgite, intended for the manufacture of refractory products and the harzburgite obtained by application of this process. This process comprises the following stages: - a magnetite containing magnetite is demagnetized by a cold operation, - the fraction of demagnetized serpentinite is recovered, and - said demagnetized fraction is calcined, so as to transform the demagnetized serpentinite into a harzburgite having an Fe2 O3 content of less than 5% and having a MgO / SiO2 quotient of between 1.0 and 1.3.
