abstract | The subject of the invention is a process for preparing an aqueous liquid dispersion of polymers, consisting in copolymerizing polymeric peroxides with vinyl-type monomers, thus carrying out the synthesis of a copolymer containing peroxy bonds, the resulting copolymer being subjected to block copolymerization with different vinyl type monomers, which has the effect of cleaving the peroxy bonds and producing block copolymers in high yield. The block copolymers contain polymer parts soluble in water or a mixture of water and organic solvent called solvent C, and polymer parts insoluble in solvent C. When the block copolymer is mixed with solvent C, the polymer part insoluble block copolymer coagulates in solvent C forming particles and the soluble polymer portion of block copolymer elongates in solvent C with the result that the resulting mixture is in the form of a dispersion. |
