abstract THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A FLEXIBLE ABRASIVE MATERIAL USING A BACKING FABRIC CONTAINING A POLYESTER. THE PROCESS IS CHARACTERIZED IN THAT THE PLAIN POLYESTER FABRIC IS IMPREGNATED WITH A MASS WHICH CONTAINS, IN A DRY SUBSTANCE, MORE THAN 10 BY WEIGHT OF ONE OR MORE AMINE-FORMALDEHYDE RESINS WHILE THE AMOUNT OF DRY COATING IS MORE THAN OF 20 IN WEIGHT RELATED TO THE STARTING FABRIC. THE ABRASIVE MATERIAL OBTAINED SHOWS LOWER ELONGATION AND BETTER ADHESION OF THE ABRASIVE THAN WITH BASE FABRICS COATED WITH PHENOLIC RESINS.
