THE PRESENT INVENTION CONCERNS A NEW PROCESS FOR OXIDIZING ALCOHOLS. THIS IS A PROCESS FOR SELECTIVE OXIDATION OF THE HYDROXYL GROUP (S) OF AN UNSATURE PRIMARY OR SECONDARY ALCOHOL AND OR INCLUDING A FUNCTIONAL GROUP OTHER THAN THE HYDROXYL GROUP OR OF AN A-GLYCOL TO OBTAIN ALDEHYDE OR THE CORRESPONDING KETONE, CHARACTERIZED IN THAT: A.ON OXIDE IN LIQUID PHASE DELIT ALCOHOL BY AN OXIDIZING AGENT OF FORMULA: (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) IN WHICH: R IS A RADICAL ALKYL, ARYL OR ARALKYL WHICH MAY OR NOT BE SUBSTITUTED; X IS AN EASILY ANIONISABLE RADICAL, AND M IS AN EASILY ANIONIZABLE RADICAL OTHER THAN RADICAL HYDROXY OR A RADICAL: (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) IN WHICH: R AND X HAVE THE MEANINGS GIVEN ABOVE IN THE PRESENCE OF A BASE, AND B.
