abstract | PROCESS FOR PREPARING DIARYL PARA-PHENYLENEDIAMINES FROM A CRUDE PARA-AMINOPHENOL SOLUTION SUCH AS THAT OBTAINED BY CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION OF NITROBENZENE IN AN ACIDIC ACID REACTIONAL MEDIUM. THE ACID SOLUTION CONTAINING THE PARA-AMINOPHENOL IS PUT AFTER NEUTRALIZATION WITH AMMONIA, IN CONTACT WITH AN AROMATIC AMINE WHICH IS ANILINE, A MIXED TOLUIDINE, ORTHOTOLUIDINE, A MIXED XYLIDINE, OR A MIXTURE OF THE PRECEDING, CONDITIONS SUCH AS THE AROMATIC AMINE EXTRACTS THE PARA-AMINOPHENOL FROM THE CRUDE FEED SOLUTION, AND THE EXTRACT IS SEPARATED. THE SEPARATE SOLUTION, ESSENTIALLY CONSISTING OF THE AROMATIC AMINE, PARA-AMINOPHENOL AND SMALL QUANTITIES OF IMPURITIES, IS THEN PLACED IN CONTACT WITH AN ALKYLATION CATALYST TO FORM THE DIARYL- PARA-PHENYLENEDIAMINES. THE PRODUCTS OBTAINED ARE USED AS ANTI-OXYGEN AND ANTI-OZONE FOR RUBBER. |
