titleOfInvention WATER-DILUABLE COATING COMPOSITIONS
abstract Copolymers of at least one hydrophobicity increasing monomer such as styrene; at least one monomer chosen from acrylates, vinyl ethers and conjugated dienes; and at least one hydrophilicity increasing organic acid (eg acrylic acid) is incorporated into water-dilutable coating compositions having the following typical composition, ingredients and parts by weight: resin, 25; volatile amine, 1.8; anti-foaming agent, 0.1; water soluble solvent, 5.4; solvent insoluble in water, 1,2; water, 40. The coating compositions of the invention: 1 degrees exhibit low viscosities compared to other compositions which can be diluted with water; 2 degrees May have a higher solids content than other water-dilutable compositions; and 3 degrees Allow a reduction in the use of volatile organic solvents.
