titleOfInvention CATALYSTS FOR POLYMERIZATION OF ALPHA-OLEFINS
abstract The invention relates to catalysts for polymerizing alpha-olefins CH2 = CHR, where R is an alkyl radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof with ethylene. According to the invention, they consist of the reaction product between a. a solid product comprising a magnesium dihalide and complexes of this halide with at least one titanium compound and an electron donor compound chosen from esters of organic and inorganic oxygen acids, anhydrides, halides and amides of these acids, ROR ethers' RCOR acetones', where R and R 'can be alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radicals of 1 to 18 carbon atoms; where the Mg / Ti ratio between the magnesium dihalide and the titanium compound is between about 5 and 100, preferably between 10 and 50 and in particular between 15 and 25, the amount of the titanium compound being able to be extracted by Ticl 4 at 80 degrees C being less than 50% and the molar ratio between the electron donor compound and the Ti compound, after extraction with TiCl4, being from 0.2 to 3 and preferably from 1 to 2; and an alkylaluminum compound selected from trialkylaluminum or alkylaluminum compounds containing 2 or more halogen atoms bonded by an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom, and AlR3-n (OR ') n, where R is an alkyl radical of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R' is an ortho hindered alkyl radical in position 2,6 with substituents which may give a steric hindrance greater than that of the group -Cl2 H5, or a naphthyl group containing at least in position 2, a substituent with a steric hindrance greater than that of the group -C2 H5, and n is a number between 1 and 2; the alkyl-aluminum compound is present for at least 85% in a form not combined with an electron donor compound and it is used in an amount corresponding to the molar ratio with respect to the Ti compound of component a., between 1 and 30 and in particular between 2 and 20. The invention applies in particular to the polymerization of propylene.
