abstract | PROCESS FOR PREPARING TEREPHTHALIC ACID BY CATALYTIC OXIDATION OF P-XYLENE BY MEANS OF A GAS CONTAINING OXYGEN. TC OXIDATION IS CARRIED OUT IN REACTOR 10, PART (60 TO 98) OF THE MOTHER LIQUEUR FROM THE OXIDATION MIXTURE IS SEPARATED IN CYCLONE 40, PART THAT IS RETURNED TO THE OXIDATION REACTOR , HOT ACETIC ACID IS ADDED TO THE REST OF THE OXIDATION MIXTURE, THE SUSPENSION OBTAINED IS MAINTAINED AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN TC AND 240C, THE MIXTURE IS SUBJECTED TO A FIRST LEACHING AT A TEMPERATURE OF TA 240C, THEN AT A SECOND LEACHING AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 150 AND 220C, AND THE TEREPHTHALIC ACID IS ISOLATED. THE PRODUCT OBTAINED IS PERFECTLY SUITABLE FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYESTERS. |
