abstract Disclosed is a polyurethane modified alkyd resin obtained by the process comprising the steps of: a. forming an alkyd resin by reacting an unsaturated fatty acid with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or anhydride, and dimethylolpropionic acid with an excess of polyol; and B. reacting the alkyd resin thus formed with toluene diisocyanate. An alkyd resin is obtained which is soluble in water when neutralized with a metal hydroxide, ammonia or an amine. The resin thus obtained has remarkable properties of rapid drying when deposited from an aqueous solution.
