titleOfInvention VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMERIZATION PROCESS
abstract The polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer is carried out by suspension or emulsion polymerization, optionally in the presence of a monoethylenically unsaturated comonomer, in the presence of a mixture of calcium and zinc acrylates. The presence of calcium and zinc acrylates makes it possible to obtain a product which is more stable to heat and to reduce the amount of polymer deposit formed during the polymerization. The thermal stability is further improved by carrying out the polymerization in the presence, in addition to the acrylates, of an epoxy compound containing a reactive vinyl or allyl group. Application: thermally stable vinyl chloride polymer.
