titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR OBTAINING PURE 7- (D-MANDELAMIDO) -3- (1-METHYL-1,2,3,4-TETRAZOL-5-YL) THIOMETHYL-3-CEPHEM-4-CARBOXYLIC ACID FROM ITS SALTS
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of pure cefamandole from its alkali metal and ammonium salts. A solution, buffered at a pH of about 3.5 to about 4.5, of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of cefamandole is passed through a bed of an adsorbent resin which uses adsorbent for adsorption. van der Waals forces, then the eluate is acidified to a pH of about 2.0 with a non-oxidizing mineral acid and pure cefamandole crystals are obtained which can be separated and dried and which are can transform into crystalline cefamandole sodium, a form which is very useful for preparing pharmaceutical compositions.
