titleOfInvention IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF ALKALINE SALTS OF 2-HYDROXY-1-NAPHTALENESULPHONIC ACID
abstract For this preparation, use is made of the sulfonation of 2-hydroxy-naphthalene BN with chlorosulfonic acid (C1SO3 H) in an organic solvent immiscible with water MNB followed by alkalization of the sulfonic acid obtained. According to the invention, BN and C1SO3 H are introduced continuously at 0-50 degrees C into a reactor I in proportions such that the molar ratio C1SO3 H / BN is from 0.95 to 1.15 and the reaction mixture is maintained in reactor I for 1 to 120 minutes before being basified in II. These measures improve the yield of BN, the productivity of the process and the purity of the product obtained.
