abstract The invention relates to a process for purifying dinitroanilines by removing the nitrosamines they contain. A dinitroaniline containing a nitrosamine is placed in liquid phase contact with a reagent which is 20-38% hydrochloric acid or hydrochloric gas, at a temperature between room temperature and 140 degrees C, for a time sufficient to reduce substantially the nitrosamine content; then the dinitroaniline is recovered which then contains one tenth of the initial nitrosamine content or less, and in general less than 1 ppm of nitrosamine.
