abstract | The invention relates to novel 7-carbon and 7-oxygenated sulfoxides analogs of penicillins. The new compounds of the invention are obtained by oxidation of an ester of a 6-carbon or 6-oxygen analogue of 6-acylaminopenicillanic acid. They can be converted to the desired 7-carbon and 7-oxygen analog of 7-acylaminocephalosporanic acid by heating in the presence of traces of an acid and subsequent removal of the protective ester group. |
